In this letter from early 1945, HOECHST informs concentration camp physician and BAYER employee Dr. Vetter about the impossibility of sending him preparations for the use in experiments on human beings. Due to the lack of carbon, all of HOECHST's factories had to be closed down, the letter says, and granules could therefore not be produced in the required quantity. However, the IG Farben drug company offers to supply Dr. Vetter with preparation '3582' in tablet form, and thereby proves that despite all obstacles, the pharmaceutical industry still sustained its ruthless pursuit of profit.
